Q: Are you a good Witch or a bad Witch? A: There are good and bad people in every society and in every religion. When a person breaks the laws of society or the tenets of their religion, they are called to account for their actions. When you ask if someone is a 'good' Witch or a 'bad' Witch, it is the same as asking someone if they are a 'good' Presbyterian or a 'bad' Presbyterian. Q: Just what DO Witches do? A: We are people just like you. We are everyday people, your neighbors and friends. We drive cars, walk or ride bikes. We are teachers, lawyers, doctors, students, parents, truck drivers, office workers, etc. We are hard-working, over-stressed, under-paid, mortgage-oweing people just like yourself. Q: Is Paganism/Witchcraft/Wicca a religion? A: Yes, I consider it to be. Some may argue otherwise, but in my opinion, they are Religions. Being a pagan/witch/wiccan is a WAY OF LIFE. Q: I want to be a Witch and learn to cast spells. A: Witchcraft doesn't work that way. You just don't read a few books and start practising magick. It's not like tv magic shows. It's not like stage magic. Examine 'why' you want to be a witch - are you aware it's a Religion? Q: Do you worship Satan or the Devil? A: I as a pagan do NOT even believe in Satan or the Devil, nevermind worship it. Satan/Devil is a part of the Christian mythos. We do not seek power through the suffering of others, nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only be denial to another. Q: Do you do blood sacrifice? A: Absolutely NOT. We do not believe in ANY blood sacrifice of ANY kind. Q: What is a male witch called? A: A Witch. Both men and women are called Witches. Forget what you saw on the 'Bewitched' tv series. Q: How do you convert or recruit new Pagans/Witches/Wiccans? A: We don't seek to convert or recruit anyone. We do not knock on doors, call on the phone or otherwise try to take you away from any religion. According to our beliefs, it is up to the individual to choose his or her own path. It is a personal and private choice. Q: Isn't the Pentagram a symbol of the Devil? A: No. The Pentagram is a symbol of the Pagan/Wiccan/Witch Religion. The Pentagram is a five-pointed star in a circle and represents the Element of Earth, and the Goddess as Union of All Things. Q: Do you believe in God? A: Not in the sense of the Christian God. I believe in the duality of Nature: if there is a God, then there is a Goddess. Q: Can you send me a spell? A: NO. I do not send out spells. For a person with no knowledge of rituals or magick, trying to do spell work, is like an untrained person trying to do brain surgery. I do NOT do spells for love or anything that would force/manipulate someone to do something against his/her will. Q: But, so-and-so said they would give me spell. Why won't you? A: Well, I do not agree with the random giving out of spells. If someone is just going to start teaching you spells, then RUN! I can't imagine a Teacher of the Craft just giving away that kind of information without also teaching the morals and disciplines that go with that kind of responsibility. Q: Is Wicca a cult? A: NO. A cult is defined as a group with a centralized leader, generally trying to recruit others to join, and usually conviced that their leader is of some divine origin. Q: How do I learn more about pagans/witches/wiccans? A: Reading. Search online, go to the library or visit a bookstore. Q: Why won't anyone teach me? A: Well, it depends on your level of maturity; if you are sincere; if you really want to learn or just skip the boring parts; if you are willing to study hard; are you a responsible person? And the big question to ask yourself: WHY do I want to be a Witch/Wiccan? |
